C ClothingOptional.org

About

A respectful, independent travel directory.

ClothingOptional.org is an independent, reader-supported directory of clothing-optional places — beaches, parks, hot springs, campgrounds and resorts — alongside long-form guides to the etiquette, legality and culture surrounding them.

What we cover

Only places where clothing-optional use is either explicitly legal or has been openly tolerated for years with no enforcement. We do not list locations where nudity carries legal risk, nor places that are private and uninviting to outside visitors.

How we verify

Flagship locations are field-verified and dated — for these we confirm current legal status with the managing agency (county parks, national forests, beach associations), corroborate access details with on-the-ground reporting, and update the record when status changes.

The wider directory is community-sourced and being verified region by region. Community-sourced entries carry a small amber dot on their card and an invitation to report an update on the location page. Field-verified entries carry a teal dot and a "Field verified, [date]" stamp. The distinction is deliberately visible; skipping it would be dishonest about what we know.

If you've visited a spot recently and something has changed — a beach closed, parking price moved, a resort went members-only — use the "Report an update" link on that page. That's how the wider directory gets to field-verified.

What we won't do

  • Publish photos of identifiable individuals without consent.
  • Run sponsored or paid placements disguised as editorial.
  • List locations where visiting would put you in legal jeopardy.

Editorial independence

We accept advertising and affiliate revenue, but no entry is ever included, ranked or boosted in exchange for payment. Affiliate links, when present, are labeled.
