About this place
Bellevue Beach is Denmark's most architecturally significant bathing site — designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1934, complete with striped lifeguard towers that remain icons of Danish modernism. It sits in Klampenborg, a wealthy coastal suburb about 15km north of central Copenhagen, accessible by S-train (Line C) in roughly 20 minutes.
The beach has a designated naturist section at its northern end. Danish naturism has been legally and socially accepted since the early 20th century — Denmark was among the first European countries to have an organised naturist association (Dansk Naturist Forbund, founded 1931). The Bellevue naturist section is a maintained, signed area with a long local tradition. The beach faces Øresund with views across to Sweden; the water is calmer and cleaner than central Copenhagen's harbour beaches.
